Love What You Do OTT Card for JAI407
Oh boy! My eldest has just turned 18! I'm far too young to have an 18 year old 😉!! Every year the kids look forward to the greeting card I make them as it is always something a bit more special. For an 18th I needed to pull out all stops but was at a bit lost as to what to create...... that was until I saw the card made for Jacque Williams' Million Sales Milestone! Sara Douglass, our CEO for Stampin' Up! posted a few pictures of the most amazing card on her Facebook page and I knew immediately that it was "the one" to CASE (Copy & Seclectively Edit) for my daughter's 18th birthday card. To see the original made by somebody awesomely talented at home office CLICK HERE and scroll down to the entry on the 16/17th April.
This card fits the Just Add Ink challenge this week wonderfully as the theme is Just Add "O". My card fits the brief with its Opulence, Opals, Ovals & Orange (Grapefruit Grove).
Most of the supplies I have used are from the Share What You Love Suite, that is available to everybody as an early release before the new catalogue comes out in full force June 1st. You can get this whole suite now, believe me when I say, you want it! There are so many little details on my card that you will be reading forever if go through every single detail, if you get stuck and want to know something please don't hesitate to contact me and ask. One thing I will talk about for the closed front of my card is that amazing, lush, Rich Razzleberry Velvet Ribbon, I want twenty rolls of the stuff as I never want to run out of it! Oh and I also need to tell you how much I love the new Pearlised Doiles, one side is pearly and the other plain, so perfect for colouring whatever colour you wish or in this case have the special pearly side on show.
This is the first section of the card after you untie the ribbon closure and open the first flap. The Grapefruit Grove looks amazing alongside the Rich Razzleberry, don't you think? Grapefruit Grove is one of the new In Colours coming out on June 1st, it's very yummy! As you can see, I've whipped out the sewing machine and stitched around the right hand side, stitching makes a wonderful addition to cards. I also love the cute little tab from the Tabs for Everything Stamp Set and coordinating Circle Tab Punch.
That little tag I have attached to the flowers is from the Bouquet Bunch Framelits and coordinating Beautiful Bouquet Stamp Set. It is the cutest and handiest little tag, I've used it many times in my projects to add another little element. I'm so glad it is going through to the new catalogue.
This is the card fully open. We wrote our birthday message on the middle distressed piece of Share What You Love Specialty Designer Series Paper and the gorgeous opalescent piece to the right is going to have a family photo we took to commemorate her 18th mounted on it. Such as shame to cover most of it up but I think the family photo we took is a keeper!
I asked my son (16) to write his own message in the card and he was reluctant to do it and struggled with the task a bit until he finally came up with what he wanted to say. I won't share with you what he wrote but lets just say it brought his sister to tears and I think showed him that a little bit of effort and thoughtfulness can go a long way! We are so lucky to have great kids who for 99% of the time get on great.
I had so much fun making this card, making special & OTT cards is very satisfying, especially when you see the recipients face upon opening. It makes the hours it took to make seem like nothing.
Thank you so much for stopping by my blog!
Cheers Megan xx
