CTC121 - Avant Garden For You

Hello everyone!

Just a quick post to share a card that I made for the CASEing the Catty Challenge.

I was really please with how vibrant the colours turned out on the flower against the black background and then in turn I think the black against the crushed curry lifts it even more. This card was CASEd from the card in the Sale-a-bration Catalogue on page 5 (pictured below).

It doesn't take much to CASE a card and make it your own, just a few little tweaks. In my card I changed the positioning of the circle, embossed the background instead of using DSP, loosely followed the same ribbon type elements & threw in a doily!

Thanks for stopping by!

CI06 - Dragonfly Dreams

Hello lovelies!

Today I am sharing a card created with the Dragonfly Dreams bundle, oh how I have wanted this set and now I have it!! I'll try to not make every card with it, but no promises,ok?

The Dragonfly Dreams stamp set has some gorgeous sentiments and I love that bokkeh stamp. In my card I stamped it first with Pool Party and then again in Versamark for some gold embossing love. The stamp set also has the cutest little bee that is dying to be on a card. That needs be my project after I finish this blog post......

My colour scheme was inspired by the Colour INKspiration colour swatch pictured below; Night of Navy, Pool Party, Calypso Coral & Gold. Colour INKspiration is a fun fortnightly colour challenge that anyone can participate in, all you need is Facebook.
The gold foil mat really gives it a bit of pizzazz and the hexagon embossing folder gives amazing texture. Can you see that my dragonfly has three layers? Firstly I stamped the dragonfly onto Calypso Coral with Black Archival Ink, then I die cut a Night of Navy intricate dragonfly and for the final layer I cut the outline dragonfly from the Foil Designer acetate sheets ( how cool are these that they are double sided? Gold on one side, silver the other!) All three layers were only adhered along the dragonfly's body so that his wings could be free and three dimensional. Thank you for stopping by today, I would love if you could just give me a quick comment so that I know I'm not talking to myself!!! Not that there is anything wrong with that, I do that all the time especially when creating and yes, I answer myself too! You know what they say.......

Thanks for Lifting Me Up - CTC120

Today's post is a card I made for the Caseing the Catty Challenge. This week we had to case a project between pages 46 - 49. As I was flicking through I noticed the superhero card with the city skyline, pictured here.....

This immediately made me think of a card I have been wanting to do with the Designer Series Paper, "Carried Away", this paper pack can be obtained for free until the 31st March when you purchase $90 of product and of course there are MANY other freebies to choose from. Stampin' Up! has just added a third installment of products that you can get for free, making the choices endless.

I know I am going to stock up on some embossing folders that I don't already have! Anyway, back to my inspiration when I saw that skyline I thought of the DSP with the Night of Navy/Whisper White mountains and how I wanted to fussy cut them out to create a skyline and so this card was created....

I have paired the Night of Navy with Watermelon Wonder for some pop and used Soft Sky for the, well, sky! Even using Soft Sky I felt was too strong a background colour so I did my favourite trick when a colour is too strong and that is layer it with vellum. In this case I ran it through the big shot with the Softly Falling embossing folder.

It is hard to see in the photo but the two mountain ranges are popped up on Dimensionals to give a "mountains in the distance" effect.

Thank you so much for stopping by today. Below you can find a list of products I have used and remember if you would like to purchase anything you can shop 24/7 just by clicking my SHOP tab at the top of the page or as always don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or want to place an order not online.
