CASEing the Catty #132

Good morning!

Here on the Sunshine Coast it is not very shiny! We are getting a bit of rain at the moment which I don't mind, it's good for the garden & perfect weather to craft in.

This morning I am showing you a card I made for the CASEing the Catty Challenge (CTC) #132. In my last post for CTC I wrote that CASE stands for Copy & Selectively Edit. While reading our demonstrators only quarterly publication (filled to the brim with awesome ideas on all sorts of things) I came across Stampin' Up's (SU) definition for CASE and that is Copy & Share Everything! How nice is that? It really is a lovely community the SU family, everybody is so generous with sharing ideas and nobody minds if you copy exactly, as long as you give credit where credit is due. I personally like the challenge of coming up with something uniquely mine but on days when the crafting mojo may not be there, it is quite alright to copy something exactly and why not get some inspiration from our huge, beautiful catalogue. On to the card!

Steps I took to make this card:-

  • Dapper Denim card base.
  • I've used the fabulous background stamp Post Script stamped off in Dapper Denim on Crumb Cake card stock. This is the first background stamp I have purchased, how can that be? I love how you can make a fab background quickity split. I am definitely getting more!
  • A vellum banner with the new Ticket Tear Border Punch, Happy birthday sentiment from Best Birds embossed in copper
  • A copper foil banner embossed with Petal Burst Embossing Folder and another banner from Tranquil Tide card stock stamped with a cloud from the Lift Me Up stamp set also in Tranquil Tide ink.
  • Hot Air Balloons from the Lift Me Up stamp set one in Dapper Denim & one in Tranquil Tide, then cut out on the Big Shot with the coordinating dies.
And that's that! This card came together really quickly and a lot of that is due to the fact that I CASEd the picture in the catalogue on page 84. Here it is here....

As you can see the original project is a bag and I have turned it into a card front. The layout I have pretty much followed just using my own elements. Not too hard I say! Why don't you give it a go yourself? For more details click HERE!

Now for those of my readers who are a bit new to this blogging thing, if you click the title of this email it will take you to my blog. There you can see more of my blog entries & the work I have created, leave comments (please do, it makes me feel like I'm not talking to myself), visit my shop and more!

Cheerio for now!

Kylie's International Blog Highlight June 2017 - Baby

Hello everyone!

I had lots of fun making this card, it's not a quick card to make but very satisfying and I find when I am doing intricate stuff I'm off in my own little world. Really crafting should be called therapy!

I am entering this card into Kylie Bertucci's International Blog Highlight, it's a monthly competition in which, if you are voted in the top ten you then get to do an international blog hop a few weeks later, something I would dearly love to do.  The theme this month is Baby I decided to go with a neutral gender palette and used Wisteria Wonder, So Saffron and Pear Pizzazz with Whisper White on a Crumb Cake card base. The white squares are popped up on dimensionals with the middle heart sitting higher than the rest and in Silver Foil. I was very pleased with how the "Hello Baby" from Moon Baby stamp set fit perfectly in the Label Me Pretty. I can see me using the Label Me Pretty bundle a lot, super cute sentiments done easy!

To see all the lovely entries for this month click the button below.

My entry is #22 and if you think I am worthy of your vote I would really appreciate it if you took the time to do so. All you need to do is click on the little heart in the top right hand corner of my picture. You can vote for 5 different projects if you like or any number from one to five.

Thank you so much for stopping by & taking the time to read my post and to all those who leave comments, you are gems! It helps to know one is not talking to oneself, when in "blog land" anyway, in real life I talk to myself all the time, at least I get the answers I want!!

Cheers
Megan xx

CASEing the Catty #131

Hello everyone!

Just a short post today to share a card I am entering into the CASEing the Catty Challenge #131, it's a facebook challenge group so you don't even need to blog to take part! Each week the challenge is to CASE (Copy and Selectively Edit)  the amazing inspiration we have right at our fingertips in the big, beautiful and shiny brand new, Stampin' Up Annual Catalogue that has just come out June 1st (my copy not so shiny anymore as it has been read & re-read SO many times!).

This week we had to use the Everyday Occasions section, pages 18-67, that's a lot of inspiration! What caught my eye was the cute-as Piggy card on page 48.

I loved the look of the background and had to give it a go. Here is my take on it!

I am really pleased with how this turned out. Instead of the hearts I have used stitched shape squares, if you haven't already got the Stitched Shape Framelits, you need to get them. They would be my most used product, it's amazing how much difference a little stitched outline can make to your finished project.

My project uses one of the new In Colours, Lemon Lime Twist, it's one of my favourite colours now as it makes everything pop when it is used. My photography skills haven't shown it in the best light here so you will just have to take my word for it. As for my colour combo I have used Perfect Plum, Smoky Slate & Whisper White along with the Lemon Lime Twist. Did I dream up this combo? Nope, Stampin' Up did all the hard work for me. When new In Colours are brought out they put together an In Colour Combination chart and show you how all the new colours can go with the core Colour Collections. I had completely forgotten this until I was reading Kelly Kent's blog post this morning, thanks Kelly as I was a bit stuck! I had started with Perfect Plum and was struggling to come up with a colour combo that I liked, your post saved the day!!

The inside needed some attention too, I used up some of the trimmed off squares from the front and pulled out another new stamp set Label Me Pretty, it is so easy to use with it's matching punch.
